Forensic Movie Review : The movie satisfies you, but will definitely leave you asking so many questions

The first time I heard about  the movie was it's trailer, it wasn't too interesting but not underwhelming as well, mainly due to it's cast. I didn't choose to watch the movie as soon as it released but waited for the reviews from friends came out. No one could stop comparing the movie with the likes of Raatsasan(Raatchasan) and Anjaam Paathira. You can't blame them, it's simply because of the genre of the movies, Crime/Serial Killer. The reviews were like, if you had watched the other 2, this movie wouldn't be too interesting. That said, the movie is doing well at the box office and for a weekday, it sees a steady booking as well. I gave it a go, and watched it.

To say the least, the movie is good. Technically, well made. Writing, could have been way better.
It seemed to me like the writers, Akhil Paul and Anas Khan, wrote the possible twists first, and then wrote a story around the one too many twists. Now, I'm not a writer, but as an audience, I don't know what all plot points could excite me, I can be sure what doesn't. In that view point, No. of twists certainly is not proportional to the satisfaction of audience. There was just twist after twist, I liked a few, but it isn't the only thing I came for(even though this is a thriller). Apart from this, there was a heavy misdirection with the trailers portraying Mamta Mohandas, playing Rithika Xavier IPS, as a strong willed officer leading the case. I would have loved to see her being that, instead she is in the movie like yet another heroine. Only satisfaction is that, she is not used as glam girl. Other than that, she is just a character who seems to be an important part of the film but it's so not. As expected, Tovino as the Medico-Legal advisor steals the (whole) show. Before the movie starts, we hear sort of an announcement that Psycho killers don't need an exact reason to kill(or something of that context), with that my last issue for me in this movie being the lack of proper motivation for the killer. I might be wrong for thinking that, but please comment your interpretation for the questions I have in the spoiler part.

All said, the movie is definitely a good watch, even with these faults.

SPOILER!!!!!!!!

We get introduced to the killer right at the start of the movie. He has an affinity towards a weird set of collection which includes severed cock(the bird, duh) head, a frog and so on, all bottled. The father who sees it gives him a thrashing. These thrashings go well into his teenage, and this shows us the abusive childhood he has. Soon enough, his father ends up as his first victim. The very best person suiting his kill zone is a father figure who may or may not be abusive to his child. Remember that.

When the killer starts his narration, his child killing spree starts after he finds out he has cancer(not even after the love of his life dies and he raises a child alone). With his cancer news, he sees the children with their happy family. His worst memories are triggered, where his father was his villain. However, he just starts killing children, that part of the story never stuck with me. After his son dies, it basically is a revenge story where he again kills children, along with a wicked plan to make the IPS officer(who did everything wrong in her cases), pay for it. If you have seen the movie and have a good explanation to this part, please leave comments below as to why I should be able to accept this.
